Gad Cliff, Tyneham, Dorset
Sheltering inland behind this massive limestone cliff, is the abandoned village of Tyneham, evacuated by the Army in 1943 for use as a firing range for tanks and artillery. Campaigns were fought for its return to civilian occupation during the 60's and 70's, but the long-time exclusion of farming and development has led to the creation, by nature, of a unique ecology in the area.
